69 burnt to death,59 identified in Onitsha tanker oil fire Accident

  

Tragedy struck Onitsha on Sunday when an Oil Tanker loaded with fuel hit a house, exploded into fire ball killing 69 people who were residents, among the dead were members of the Onitsha newspaper distribution Directors Association as confirmed by the Chairman of the Association,Mr Emmanuel Uwakwe.


 Prof. Peter Katchy vice chairman of Red Cross Society of Nigeria in Anambra state, said 57 of the hospitalised victims burnt beyond recognition had been identified. Thirteen are yet to be identified.
He added that the evacuation of the bodies from the Toronto hospital to Nnamdi teaching hospital continues for Forensic analysis.
