Okonjo-Iweala denies Spending Excess Crude Account without Approval.

Ex-Finance Minister has fought back against allegation leveled against her for spending $2.1 billion from the Excess Crude Account without authorization, through a statement by her Spokesperson calling it "False, malicious and totally without foundation,on Tuesday.

The Governor of Edo state and Kaduna,Adams Oshiomole and Mallam El-Rufai said at the National Economic Council (NEC) Meeting on Monday that $2.1 billion oil excess crude account Money was spent without approval.
But the Ex Minister said no such unauthorized expenditure was made under her watch as Finance Minister, that decisions on such expenditures are taken at the Federal  Accounts allocation Committee (FAAC) Meeting attended by the 36 state commissioners of Finance.

“It is curious that in their desperation to use the esteemed National Economic Council for political and personal vendetta, the persons behind these allegations acted as if the constitutionally recognized FAAC, a potent expression of Nigeria’s fiscal federalism, does not exist,” a statement signed by the former minister’s spokesperson, Paul Nwabuikwu, said.
“But Nigerians know that collective revenues, allocations and expenditures of the three tiers of government are the concern of the monthly FAAC meetings.
“It is important to acknowledge the efforts of governors who are working hard to overcome the current revenue challenges facing their states without resorting to character assassination and blame games,” it said.
She however said she is ready to respond to legitimate Inquiry under her watch as  finance minister.
