A Nigerian Doctor and his wife who is a Nurse has been found guilty for enslaving a man for 24 years in their home in the UK.the Victim Ofonime Sunday Inuk told the Harrow Crown Court that he arrived in the UK in 1989 from Nigeria when he was 14 years old and was kept as a house help,locked up to look after their Children,he was never allow to school or go out in the 24 years, he was threatened with deportation, if he try to contact Police,but eventually he was rescued by a Charity organisation Hope For Justice,who Contacted Scotland Yard,and freed him.
Prosecutor Damaris Lakin told the court: "Emanuel and Antan Edet have cruelly robbed this victim of 24 years of his life. They have treated him with complete contempt.Not only did the defendants have total psychological control over the victim, but they also had control of his passport and identity document,This was a shocking case of modern day slavery which has no place in our society."
Edet, 60, is a trained obstetrician and gynaecologist and his wife has worked as a senior sister at a hospital were found guilty of child cruelty, slavery and assisting unlawful immigration and will be sentenced November 18th,
