Recovered Loots From Ex-Government Officials With CBN

                               

Public Fund that has been returned by ex government official who looted the national treasury are currently with the Central Bank of Nigeria.CBN
Buhari disclosed while addressing Nigerian community in Iran last week that those who stole government money have begin to voluntarily return the monies, though he did not make mention of those involved and the amount been returned.
But according to Punch Reports, Investigation revealed that the returned loot is with the CBN.
Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to The President, Mr Femi Adesina when contacted confirmed that the looted funds were been returned to the Central Bank,he added that only the Apex Bank could speak on how much has been returned.


“The looted fund is being returned through CBN. Only the bank can speak on the procedure, and how much has been returned so far.” he said
When further asked if the President was considering pardoning those who have returned their loot or they will still be prosecuted, Adesina replied, “The President has not made a declaration on whether those who returned money voluntarily would still be prosecuted or not.”
Also The Minister of Finance,Mrs Kemi Adeosun had told newsmen at Friday’s Federation Accounts Allocation Committee meeting in Abuja that the Federal Government had yet to put a specific figure to the amount of money so far returned by those who looted the treasury, saying the process was still ongoing.
She said, “There is no figure on the funds being returned yet. The process is ongoing. When it is completed and the accounts are available, they would be returned to where they were stolen from. We haven’t come to that yet.”
