Defence Headquarters Arrests Generals, Recall Other Over Arms Deal Fraud

                       

The Defence Headquarters have started recalling recently retired Generals in a bid to recover stolen defence cash running into Trillion of Naira.
Competent Military sources told Vanguard that some top military officers were detained at a military facility in Abuja for their role in defrauding the nation defence fund.
The Source also added key military officers from ,Army, Airforce and Navy who retired in the last 3 months have been summoned to face investigation panel headed by a Brig-General probing the purchase of arms since 2009.


“I can tell you that the current leadership of the Defence institution in Nigeria has zero tolerance for corruption given the need to give Nigeria a new lease of life. All those suspected to have diverted any money meant for the armed forces are being recalled to explain their roles in arms purchase.“As we speak, some Generals currently serving are under detention at a military facility in Abuja while some who had retired but held sensitive appointments relating to arms and logistics procurement have been recalled by an investigating panel.”the source said

Some of the Top military Officers detained might have connived with some National Security Officers to divert fund awarded for procurement of vital weapons for the military by accepting receipt of such items when non was supplied.
