President Goodluck Jonathan who flagged off his re-election campaign in the historic Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos yesterday 8 January, told the gathered crowd  during his speech that Henry Okah who is the Leader of the Movement Of The Emancipation of Niger Delta was hired by some Nigerian to assassinate him in 2010 during the Celebration of Nigerian Golden Jubilee,(50th anniversary) at the Eagle square in Abuja.
He stated that he is not surprise that somebody who wants to kill you will dump you,haven read the reports of MEND supporting Gen Buhari the APC presidential candidate.
In a separate statement from the Presidential Special Advisor on Media and Publicity Dr Reuben Abati to the opposition, states “The President therefore advises General Buhari not to place any stock on his purported endorsement by the renegade faction of MEND which is led by a convicted and unrepentant terrorist with whom no leader who truly means well for Nigeria should be associated,”
