House of Representative want Presidential scholarship scrapped

      

Some members of the House of Representative has indicated that the Special Presidential scholarship for innovation and development to be stopped,they Argued that the scheme favour only a session of the country,

The chairman of the committee,Mr Aminu  ,a representative from Kano and the Implementation committee chairman Prof Okojie meet over the issue in a heated argument over the issue.Mr Aminu directive was for the 2015/2016 scholarship to be scrapped,he claimed the Northerners were sidelined in the awards leading to what is called "Educational Imbalance and monumental abuse"


The committee complain that at of  the 104 candidates shortlisted no one came from the North West and the North East.
Prof Okojie replied   that no considerations other than “merit,” qualified the beneficiaries for the awards.
Okojie added, “Unless we are saying that the criteria have to change, I will not advise that the programme should be scrapped.”
However, he assured the lawmakers that he would pass their position to President Goodluck Jonathan.
