Dashboard Cam Shows Gunman Shooting SA Police While He was Writing a Ticket

  

This police officer was awarded for his bravery after he returned fire when he was shot in the back at point-blank range during a routine traffic stop.

Dramatic footage taken from the police car dashcam shows officer Nizaam Alexander drawing his gun and giving chase moments after he was wounded in the attempted roadside robbery in Cape Town, South Africa.

The officer called for back up and pursued the shooter before returning to the vehicle he had pulled over to issue the fine. It was only then he sought medical treatment for the bullet wound in his back.
The act of bravery earned Mr Alexander the title of the City of Cape Town's Departmental Traffic Officer of the Year 2015.
