Utah Restores Firing Squad

The state of Utah has restored firing squad for condemned criminals if drug used for execution are unavailable, making it the only state in the US to adopt this method.
The bill was signed into Law by the Governor Gary Herbert on Monday.

The bill has been wildly criticized but the the spokesman of governor Gary Herbert said,“Those who voiced opposition to this bill are primarily arguing against capital punishment in general, but that decision has already been made in our state.

“We regret anyone ever commits the heinous crime of aggravated murder to merit the death penalty and we prefer to use our primary method of lethal injection when such a sentence is issued,” added the spokesman, Marty Carpenter.
“However, when a jury makes the decision and a judge signs a death warrant, enforcing that lawful decision is the obligation of the executive branch,” he said.
