66,000 Nigerian are refugees in Cameroun
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugee said the recent exodus of people from Nigeria to cameroun as fighting intensified in the NorthEastern part of Nigeria between the Military and Boko Haram will bring the total number of Nigerian Refugee in Cameroun to close to 66,000.
About 16,000 Nigerian refugees just moved into cameroun in the last few days.
The UNHCR Spokesman, Adrian Edwins told Journalist in a press brief in Geneva on Tuesday that Cameroonian authorities had observed a “steady flow of refugees streaming in through the extremely volatile” border regions of Makaria, Logone Birni and Fotokol, south of Lake Chad, leaving them vulnerable to attacks from the Boko Haram insurgents.
Edwin added that the UNHCR is planning a daily transfer of 2000 refugee to Minawao were there is an established camp hosting 32,600, where urgent Shelter and sanitation is under constuction
