$380m Abacha loot to be returned By Switzerland to Nigeria

The Swiss Government is set to return to Nigeria $380 million looted by Sani Abacha former Head of State as revealed on Tuesday by the Geneva Prosecutor

The Money to be returned was keep in an account in Luxembourg which was control by the Abacha Family and was seized by Swiss order.


The confiscation and return of this money follows the agreement between the Abacha's family and the Nigeria government.this agreement also led to the dropping of charges against his son Abba Abacha,

Abba Abacha was given one year suspended sentence by the Swiss court,for participating in a criminal organisation, but it was cancelled citing procedural reasons,the Swiss also said that Abba Abacha has been detained for 561 days 2004 to 2006 without compensation.
Abacha during his 5 years of brutal rule stole about $2 billion stashed away in Banks in the west, Swiss has returned more than $500 million to Nigeria.This latest repatriation will be under world bank supervision
