A ground breaking bid is in the making by Facebook with a London base satellite technology firm Avanti to provide free internet across Africa, this is part of mark zuckerberg plans to put the developing world online, under the project he named, social network's internet.org initiative, this come as a result of his first plan to bring internet to Africa through mobile operators, including Vodafone was turn down.
Facebook internet.org aim is to bring internet to two third population of the world that doesn't have it.it,s mission statement says "no one have to choose between access to internet and food or medicine"
"internet.org will join partners force to develop technology that decreases the cost of delivery data to people worldwide and help deliver internet to under served communities"
internet.org believes that 160 million people will be lifted out of poverty and global productivity will increase by 25% if developing world have same level of internet access as the first world.
Zuckerberg recently provided internet access in guinea, Liberia and sierra leone to help aid and medical workers to track Ebola cases and co-ordinate their response.he also provided a tool where users can donate to fight Ebola epidemic through the social media
