The Federal Executive Council has approved the sum of N9.2 billion for the purchase of cooking stoves and 'wonder bags' for rural women under the National clean cooking scheme.

The supervising Minister of Information  and his counterpart in the Enviroment Ministry, Lawrecia mallam, and Ballam Mohammed brief State House Correspondent after the Federal Executive Council meeting chaired by the  vice president Namadi Sambo

According to the minsters,  the purpose of this scheme is to encourage clean cooking by reducing or eliminating cooking with solid fossil, like firewood and charcoal which is detrimental to human health and to stop indiscriminate falling of trees.

Mohammed said the N9.2 billion is value added tax inclusive, and for the total of 720,000 units of stoves and 18,000 unit of wonder bags,
