Over 15000 thousand persons live with Hiv in Port harcourt
The medical official in River State has stated that though the percentage of the affected people with HIV Virus has fallen from 3.1% to 2.1 % , the disease is still a threat to the state
this revelation was made on the Aid day commemoration base on the rise of Gay activities in the state
Braithwait Memorial specialist hospital coordinator and management of HIV and AIDs, Dr Nyemelem Michael said that the hospital currently have about 15,000 patients, but only 5000 are on anti retrovirus drug, because of stimatization the other are scared away.
According to Michael, “If you are talking about those who we are seeing that are positive in Port Harcourt, we have close to 15,000 people. Out of that figure, only about 5,000 are currently taking the anti-retroviral drugs”,
