On Monday the US government through It's Embassy Released a statement that states:“At the request of the Nigerian government, the United States will discontinue its training of a Nigerian Army battalion.”
The Federal Government , however yesterday in Abuja gave it's reasons for the cancellation of the training program
The cancellation was due to the conditions laid down by the US government which were not favorable to the safety and security of Nigeria citizen in the Northeast
The co-coordinator of the National Information Centre, Mr Mike Omeri, in a briefing in Abuja on security situation of the country said one of the condition given by the US government is the withdrawal of Military Equipment from the battlefield so that the American can used them in Training Nigeria soldiers, this the Nigeria government refused,withdrawing such equipment means exposing the life of citizen in those state at the mercy of the Insurgent group.
Mike Omeri said "Nigeria and American have strong Military relation till date, it is still ongoing and strong"
He maintain the third phase has to do with Logistics components which American did not provide instead relied on Nigeria.
