HOW TO RECEIVE THE ANOINTING
MEMORY VERSE: “The Lord hath taken away thy judgments, He hath cast out thine enemy: the King of Israel, even the Lord, is in the midst of thee, thou shall not see evil any more.” Zephaniah 3:15.

INTRODUCTION: We are living in the age of power.
One way God can truly be God in your life is when His power is manifested in every sphere of your life. Anointing is the outflow of the Holy Spirit through a human vessel. It is the highest level of God's power in a believer. At conversion, the level of the Holy Spirit in you is likened to a well of water (John 4:14), while at baptism you have rivers of the Holy Spirit (John 7:38). The anointing is likened to rain which is the live-wire of a well and a river (Joel 2:23). Just as the increase of the volume of the water in a river determines the functions to which it can be put, the level of anointing in a man determines his productivity and the extent he is able to stand on God's Word and get results (Acts 4). How much breakthrough you experience in life and in Ministry is determined by the level of the anointing upon your life (Isaiah 10:27). Jesus did not embark on His Ministry until he was anointed with the Holy Spirit and Power.
We all started as infants in the Lord. The New Birth was merely our registration in the school of power but registration is not equivalent to graduation. While some Christians continue to grow and end up raising the dead, opening blind eyes, and winning souls for Christ, some others end up never doing anything or becoming anything for God. They seem contented with going through the motions of life - just living, eating, drinking, sleeping, waking and dying. God is not delighted in your existing for nothing. You must receive the anointing lest when you get to heaven, you discover, with regret, the accumulation of all the benefits that God has in store for you but which you missed. Anointing is not learnt, or inherited or bought or coerced. It is divinely released by the inspiration of God upon individuals for empowerment to accomplish assigned services. The price for the release of the anointing is an intense longing in your heart to be possessed completely by the Holy Spirit
WHY YOU MUST RECEIVE THE ANOINTING -(John 5:2-6)
1. Makes you a new man - special, distinct and mysterious (1 Sam. 10:6).
2. It is the key of David to open doors no man can shut and to shut doors no man can open (Isa. 22:22).
3. It is the power that strengthens you to take the battle to the enemies' gates (1 Sam. 17:44-47).
4. Transforms your life to become a living demonstration of God's power (Jos. 23:10).
5. Empowers you to destroy satanic yokes and set captives free - No anointing; no deliverance (Isaiah 10:27).
6. Enables you to break through to your breakthroughs (Matt. 17:19)
7. Makes you to become a terror to the kingdom of darkness (Mark 1:24).
8. You will be known and respected in heaven and hell (Acts 19:15).
9. Enables you to discern, disarm and disgrace counterfeit powers (Acts 16:16-18).
10. Makes impossibilities possible (Matt. 10:8).
11. Guarantees your victory over the works of the devil (1 John 3:8).
12. Empowers you to become the hope of glory to God's children and a mystery to the unbelievers (Col. 1:27).
13. Gives access to the mysteries of God (Prov. 3:32).
14. It edifies and brings unity to the body of Christ. 15. It turns a flock of goats to a flock of sheep.
HOW TO RECEIVE THE ANOINTING
1. To receive things f rom God, you must fi rst have knowledge.(Hosea 4:6).
2. Have a Foundation of holiness revealed in genuine repentance (2 Tim. 2:21; 2 Cor. 7:1).
3. Believe (Mark 16:17-18; 9:23; James 2:19).
4. Recognize your unworthiness (Isaiah 6:5; Titus 2:11).
5. Be truly born again (Acts 12:5-7; Joshua 1:8; Acts 4:12; Mark 8:36)
6. Commit to a totality of a life in God poured out in obedience, prayer, intercession, love and service (Exo. 32:7).
7. Desire it. (1 Cor. 12:31;14:1)(Acts 2:38-39).
8. Ask for it in Faith (John 14:14).
9. Thirst and hunger after the presence of God (Matt. 5:6; John 14:13).
10. Covet the anointing for the edification of the body of Christ (1 Cor. 12:31).
11. Walk in all the ordinances and commandments of the Lord blameless (1 Cor. 1:8).
12. Submit and commit to the covering of an anointed ministry (1 Tim. 1:18-20).
13. Like Moses, be more concerned about God's glory rather than your.own (Exo. 33:13).
14. Develop an honest prayer & fasting life (Matt. 7:7; John 14:13-14).
15. Have the humility of John the Baptist to point beyond yourself to Christ (John 1:20).
16. Let the Lord touch the hollow of your thigh so that you no longer depend on your strength (Gen. 32:25-32).
17. Learn patience (Luke 21:19).
18. Be an Ambassador for Christ (2 Cor. 5:20).
19. Cultivate boldness.
20. Live a disciplined lifestyle (2 Tim. 2:4).
21. Learn to hear God's voice (John 18:37).
22. Locate your talent.
23. Have attitude of gratitude.
24. Persevere.
25. Through laying on of hands (1 Tim. 4:14)
HINDRANCES TO RECEIVING THE ANOINTING
1. Ignorance (Acts 17:30).
2. Rejection by God (1 Sam. 16:7).
3. Criticism of and Comparison with other co-labourers in the vineyard.
4. Unbelief, doubt, hardness of heart (Heb. 3:12).
5. Selfish motives (2 Pet. 2:10).
6. Limiting God (Ps. 78:41) 7. Worldliness (1 John 2:15).
8. Fear, worry, anxiety (Matt. 8:26).
9. Forgetting all his benefits (Ps. 78:42; Ps. 103:5).
10. Casual Christianity.
CONCLUSION: Every believer needs the anointing to attain to the plan of God for his/her life. You cannot do anything effectively for God without the anointing. If Jesus needed the anointing to excel in His Ministry, then you and I need it all the more to do greater works than He did and to occupy till He comes. God is willing to give you His power and get you into the fullness of His stature if you will receive it. He wants to make a new person out of you. The time to begin to see the raw power of God afresh is here and now. I charge you by the mercies of the Lord that, from this moment, you begin and never cease to crave for the in filling of the anointing in sincerity and in truth and with a pure motive to seek and serve God diligently all the days of your life.
PRAYERS
1. Anointing to pursue my pursuers unto desolation, come upon me now, in the name of Jesus.
2. Anointing to embarrass household wickedness, fall upon my life now, in the name of Jesus.
