Former Secretary General of the United Nations, Boutros Ghali has died, aged 93 in Cairo,He was the sixth Secretary General of the United Nations.he served from 1992 to 1996.his tenure ended when the US vetoed his second tenure attempt.
Boutros Boutros-Ghali was born in Cairo in November 1922 into an influential Coptic Christian family. His father had served as finance minister in the Egyptian government, and his grandfather had been prime minister.
He Got a law degree at Cairo University, then completed his education at the Sorbonne and Columbia University in New York, before returning to Cairo as professor of international law and international relations.
He led the UN during the period that saw genocide in Rwanda, civil war in Angola, the disintegration of the former Yugoslavia - all of this amidst increasingly stormy relations between the US and the UN.
