African Union Suspend Burkina Faso

                              

The African Union announced the suspension of Burkina Faso on Friday following the coup that dissolved the Transitional government.
After a meeting of the the Peace and Security Council of the AU in Addis Ababa,it said the Country is suspended with "Immediate effect" and that sanction will be imposed "if the kidnapped Transitional Government Authority is not released immediately" by the Junta


The country was preparing to hold it first presidential election in decade by the transitional government lead by President Michael kafando
An elite army unit — Compaore’s powerful Presidential Security Regiment (RSP) — seized power after complaining the transitional government was excluding the ex-president’s supporters in the upcoming October 11 polls.
They also kidnapped the country’s interim president Michel Kafando, Prime Minister Isaac Zida and two ministers, declared a curfew and shut the borders.
On Friday the coup leaders announced they had released interim president Kafando, but said Zida remains under house arrest.

The Coup has been widely condemned.
