Pandemonium broke out on Thursday at the Eid Prayer ground as angry Worshipers attacked Senate President Dr Saraki, Emir of Ilorin,Alhaji Gambari and other dignitaries in protest against bad state of the economy of Kwara State.
Other victims of the mob action were ex- Minister Bolaji Abdullahi, the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Ali Ahmad, ex-Speaker Razak Atunwa( now a member of the House of Representatives) Rep Amuda Kannike, a former National Chairman of the PDP, Alh. Kawu Baraje, the Taliban of Ilorin, Prof. Oba Abdulraheem, members of the State House of Assembly, all the Baloguns, Magajis and prominent leaders in Ilorin Emirate.
As Saraki arrived the prayer ground there was a deafening shout of “Ole! Ole!! Ole!!!(Thief, thief, thief).Others were shouting “Ebi n pa wa!” “Ebi yii tito Saraki!””A o ki run, e fun wa lounje”( We are hungry, enough of hunger Saraki, give us food, teach us how to fish.”Stone throwing at the dignitaries followed, it took the security operatives, the Police and Kwara civil defence a tough time to calm the uproar through sporadic gunfire and teargas canister.
After a temporary calm that permitted the prayers,hurling of stones begin again as the dignitary were filling out.
The protester were angry of Non utilization of the bailout fund given to the state to offset worker salaries,the protester alleged that the fund was used to pay for the debt Saraki incurred before been made Senate President
