One Dead,One Injured and Hundreds of passengers Trapped In Blazing Ferry

           Several explosions have been heard on the Norman Atlantic (pictured on a different voyage). Greek and Italian authorities have sent several helicopters to help with the evacuation and rescue operation following the blaze

A ferry carrying 423 passengers and 55 crew  caught fire off the Greek island of Corfu, the ferry was travelling from Greece's Patra port to Ancona  in Italy
coast guard has confirm that one person is dead and another is injured, fire broke out in the lower deck of the ferry which was carrying 222 vehicles early hour of Sunday 28 Dec,many passengers have been stranded for over eight hours in the upper deck waiting for rescue.


Rescue teams from Italy and Greece in helicopter and boats have been struggling to reach the ferry which excessive wind of 55 miles per hours is pushing toward Albanian coast
As of  this afternoon 149 people have been rescued, lowered through a life boat and transported to nearby ships while some were airlifted
The Italian Flagged  Norman Atlantic was carry holiday makers and truck drivers, on board the ferry, 234 and 34 crew  are Greek.other passengers are Italians,Albanian,British, Turkish ,Switzerland,Germany,Belgium France and Italian crew

           The fire broke out on the lower car deck of the Italian-flagged Norman Atlantic ferry, which was travelling from the Greek port of Patras to Ancona in Italy and carrying 423 passengers, 55 crew members and 222 vehicles

          One person has died and another injured while attempting to escape a blazing ferry stranded off the Greek island of Corfu. The Italian-flagged Norman Atlantic caught alight as it travelled from Greece to Ancona in Italy
