The Magistrate Court in Ebute Metta has remanded the Managing Director of Lekki Gardens, Mr Nyong Richard and the Contractor Odofin Taiwo to Police custody for 30 days for their role in the collapse of a 5 storey building pending completion of investigation.
35 people died on Tuesday, when a 5 storey building under construction collapsed, several other people were also injured in the disaster.
“Based on preliminary reports and investigation, it was discovered that the collapsed building was served contravention notice for exceeding the approved floors and thereafter sealed by the Lagos State Building Control Agency only for the management of Lekki Gardens, to continue without approval.The Lagos Commissioner of information said in a statement.
