Buhari To Confirm Amina Zakari as INEC Chairman

The President of Nigeria, Buhari has resolved according to sources to confirm Zakari Amina currently Acting Chairman of INEC as the Chairman instead of shopping for someone new from outside the commission.
According to the source she will be confirmed early enough so she could conduct the Governorship election coming up in Bayelsa and Kogi State,after her confirmation the FG will move to fill the National Commissioner Positions.


“It is almost certain that the President will soon confirm Mrs. Zakari’s appointment. She may be named the substantive chairman of INEC soon. The President does not seem to be interested in shopping for a chairman from outside the commission,” The source said.

Zakari was appointed June 30, in a acting capacity as Chairman, as Prof Jega retires,as announced by Haruna Imrana Director of Communications for the Head of Civil Service of The Federation to be in charge until a substantive chairman is appointed.
