A prominent politician and former Director-General of the state Direct Labour Agency, Chief Lucky Ayomanor, has died while in the custody of the police in Sapele.
Chief Ayomanor reportedly died at the hand of police officer after he was allegedly beaten and maltreated over alleged possession of a loaded firearm on Wednesday.
It was gathered that the late politician was arrested at 9 pm around the popular Gana area of Sapele while driving to pay his elder brother a visit at his home.
He was a member of the Peoples Democratic Party.
