France rejects WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange Asylum request



The French Authorities has rejected an asylum application by the Founder of WikiLeaks,Julian Assange who has be holed up at the Ecuadorian Embassy in London since 2012.

In his request he wrote:  "By welcoming me, France would carry out a humanitarian and symbolic gesture, sending encouragement to every journalist and whistleblower."


But the office of the French President,Mr Hollande responded that the Asylum request has been reviewed and decided not to grant it.

"The situation of Mr Assange does not present any immediate danger," the statement said. "Furthermore, he is subject to a European arrest warrant."

Mr Assange a former computer hacker,an Australian Journalist and activist is wanted for questioning in Sweden over sexual assault,an allegation he denied,claiming its part of a plot to extradite him to the US over publication of thousands classified US documents in 2010 .he has not been formally charged in the US,the American have not issued any extradition request to the UK
