A High Court in Kano yesterday orders the Economic and Financial Crime Commission not to Arrest Alhaji Rabiu Kwankwaso the Immediate past Governor of Kano.
Justice Mohammed Yahaya, the presiding Judge orders all the parties to maintain status quo,
“It is hereby ordered that an order directing all parties to maintain status quo pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice is hereby granted as prayed.”he said
Mr kwankwaso's council, Mr Okechukwu Eze approached the court to restrain the anti graft Agency from any attempt to arrest him on allegation of mismanagement of pension funds
“My client has been in his house over the threat of arrest by the EFCC and has been denied the liberty to perform his legislative duties as mandated by voters of Kano central district. “
Kwankwaso’s attorney further told the court that the EFCC action emanated from a petition by
“unregistered association that has no written address,” as he pointed out that he was in court to halt the likely “anticipation of violation” of his client’s rights. he told the court
