
Former Liberia President and warlord Charles Taylor who is currently serving 50 years in U.K prison is reported to have called his allies from the prison where he is serving his sentence.
The call recording which was made on the 28 January, his 69 birthday was obtained by African Confidential Magazine.
According to BBC in his call
- Taylor's supporters put him on their phone's loudspeaker and applause and cheers can be heard as he speaks
- He rails against former allies who turned against him and assures supporters that he has never abandoned them
- He advises them to avoid people who would betray his party, saying: "Go back to the base and everything will be fine"
Taylor who is in HMP Frankland, near Durham,was jailed 50 years for supporting Revolutionary United Front RUF, convicted in 2012 of 11 counts of war crimes, slavery, rape, recruiting child soldiers and aiding and abetting the Revolutionary United Front (RUF) rebels in Sierra Leone 1991-2012.
