Ronald Reagan Attempt Assasin To Be Released After 35 Years After The Shooting

    John Hinckley, Jr., the man who tried to assasinate Ronald Reagan in 1981, is set to be released from a mental hospital next month. He is pictured above in November 2003, arriving at U.S. District Court in Washington

John Hinckley Jr, man who attempted to assassinate President Ronald Reagan,1981 will be allowed to leave a Washington mental hospital and live full-time in Virginia,Judge Paul L. Friedman ruled Wednesday, granting him full time convalescent leave that shall begin no sooner than August 5. 


According to doctor 61-year-old Hinckley, who was found not guilty by reason of insanity in the shooting, is no longer plagued by the mental illness that drove him to shoot Reagan in an effort to impress actress Jodie Foster.
Two Secret Service Agents and Reagan's press secretary were injured in the shooting, which happened as the president was leaving the Hilton Hotel in Washington, DC on March 30, 1981 
Reagan himself died in 2004 at the age of 93.
