The state executive council of the All Progressives Congress in Delta State will on June 5 and 6 meet to consider and approve the admission of high-profile politicians from other parties into its fold.
The party had set up a nine-man committee headed by Mr. Fred Okpowhoro to reach out to some influential Peoples Democratic Party members who were disenchanted with the PDP-led government of the state, and bring them into the APC.
The APC governorship candidate in the state, O’tega Emerhor, in a statement on Wednesday, quoted a reliable source saying that the SEC would consider and approve the resolution for a governorship candidate of the Labour Party in the state, Chief Great Ogboru; a former Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Victor Ochei, and other PDP members to join the party.
Emerhor stated that at the meeting, the SEC would also draw up the timetable for a grand rally for Ogboru, Ochei and their groups planning to join the APC in Delta State.
He said the rally would be massive and would change the political climate of Delta State ahead of the 2019 general election.
The statement quoted Emerhor as saying,
“The leadership of the APC in Delta has been in discussions with various groups and some notable progressives over the past one month on the need to forge a stronger front to dislodge the PDP which has been ruling the state for the past 17 years.”
“The APC as the national ruling party in the country is attracting critical political players in Delta State who share the common mission of dislodging the PDP that has misruled the state for nearly 17 years.”Punch.
