The Governor of Lagos State Akinwunmi Ambode has signed into law the recently passed anti-kidnapping bill by the Lagos State House of Assembly. Henceforth anybody arrested and convicted of kidnapping will face life imprisonment or death sentence.
A press statement by Habib Aruna, Chief Press Secretary, said the Prohibition of the Act of Kidnapping Law imposes life imprisonment on kidnapping for ransom, while perpetrators, whose victim dies in the course of kidnap, will get the maximum punishment of death sentence.
Gov ambode while signing the bill pledged to ensure the full implementation of the law, in order to eradicate kidnapping in the state.
