The Federal Government of Nigeria has placed ban on employment of Children under the age of 12 years old as domestic house help in new act sign by President Jonathan.Christened the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act 2015, the new law recommends a prison term of two years and a possible fine for violators. the law also prohibit the employment and use of any person under the age of 18 as domestic help.
The signing of the law has come as relief for Many governmental and non government organisation and Agencies who see this trend as a disturbing trend in the country,were this category of children are been abused.
This has been linked with high incidence of mental, physical and sexual abuse of this category of children in the society,the change in society has created a need for working mother to engaged the need of house help who does omnibus job for little fee.the victims mostly girl child has been subjected to rape and in good cases sexual abuse, and denial of education.
