Kidnapped Sierra Leone High Commissioner Regains Freedom

                         

The Deputy High Commissioner of Sierra Leone ,who was Kidnapped on Friday along Abuja-Kaduna highway has regained his freedom
Major General Nelson Alfred Williams was rescued by the Police on Tuesday and has been reunited with the Commission and his Family.

A statement by the force PRO Donald Awunah confirming his rescue reads

 “The ambassador was released at about 16:00hrs  along Abuja- Kaduna Road.“Following credible intelligence and technical support, there was intense police activities on both land and air patrol within the area. The General is feasibly in good condition.The acting IGP, Ibrahim Idris,  wishes to assure the members of the Diplomatic Corps and other foreign nationals of their safety and security in Nigeria.”
The police however did not say if ransom was paid for the envoy’s release or not.
