Justice Muntar l Abimbola granted pardon to Seventeen years old Moruf Komla standing trial for stealing local delicacies called Amala on Thursday when he paid visit to the to a medium security prison in Abologo, Oyo state.
Justice Abimbola in company of other High Court Judges also released 48 other inmate in a one hour case review.
Moruf who hail from cotonou, gave details of how he found himself in that position said: “I live in a village in Ogbomosho and I was hungry on this particular day around 10am. I asked the daughter of a neighbour if her mother has anything that I can eat. The girl said they have Amala but her mother was not around. When I could not hold it again, I went inside their room to take the Amala to eat even without any soup because I was really hungry.
“When her mother returned and found out the Amala is not there again, she with others descended on me and took me to the police station. It was from the police station that I was charged to court for almost three months now,” said Moruf, who also disclosed his boss was not around at the time of the event.
