The Senate on Wednesday passed sexual offences bill into law which prescribes life Imprisonment if found guilty of rape, child sex tourism.
Rape, child sex tourism and people who deliberately infect others with HIV/AIDS are among the offences listed in the bill.
The bill also prescribes 10 years for incest; 10 years imprisonment for child pornography or a fine of N2m, while those who engage in sex abuse will go to jail for 14 years.
Senator Umaru Dahiru,The Chairman, Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters,said the bill redefines and consolidate existing sexual laws
The bill which was sponsored by Chairman of the Committee on Navy, Senator Chris Anyanwu,and has been pending since 2013 is expected to pass concurrently in the House of Representatives on Thursday.
