Lagos and Osun state has declared June 12th as Public Holiday in Commemoration of the annulment of June 12th Presidential elections of 1993,won by MKO Abiola.
Governor of lagos State in a statement signed by his Chief press Secretary Habib Aruna said the date marked a watershed in the annals of transparent, free and fair elections in the country.
Ambode said the June 12th 1993 vote mark the day Nigerian voted with one voice across ethnic group,racial and religious line,adding it represent the true Democracy
Governor of Osun State Aregbesola is significant and central to the development of democracy the nation is enjoying now
The statement said: “Governor Rauf Aregbesola has approved Friday, June 12 as public holiday to enable our people observe the day that Nigerians closed all ranks.
“Nigerians should reflect on the significance of June 12, the sacrifice Abiola made for all of us to come together to cultivate, consolidate and protect the current democratic experiment.”
