9 pregnant girls arrested at a baby factory in a police raid

 

The Enugu State Police command has arrested 9 pregnant girls in a baby factory during a raid of the facility.the 9th Mile Division of the Nigerian Police storm the baby factory located  within Etiti Amankwo Ngwo of 9th mile, Udi local government Area of Enugu state.it is owned and operated by one Ikechukwu Onoh of Etiti Amakwo Ngwo.
Mr. Ebere Amaraizu,The spokesperson of Enugu State police confirned the arrest and said the pregnant women and girls arrested gave their names as


“Stella James, 19 years of Ohaozara Ebonyi State, Eze Jennifer, 19 years of Obukpa in Nsukka local Government Of Enugu state, Ugwu Christabel, 17 years of Aku Igboetiti local Government of Enugu state, Happiness Mbaonu, 17 years of Nnewi Anambra state, Ovunna Ifeoma, 20 years of Ezza Ebonyi State”.Esther Nwankwo, 21 years of Nkalagu Ebonyi state, Onyedika Agu, 23 years of Isuawa Awgu of Enugu state, Blessing James, 23 years of Ohafia 
Abia state and Chibueze Ujunwa, 24 years of Nenwenta Aninri local Government Area of 
Enugu state.
he added that the pregnant girls are helping police in the investigation.

The owner of the factory claim to have gotten an approval from ministry of women Affairs and Social Development of Enugu State  in October 2007 to admit and shelter pregnant women in his Hospital Tex Hospital and Maternity, which no longer function and is been run from his home.
“He also admitted that under the authority, he was supposed to inform the social development and women affairs within 24hrs of admitting any pregnant woman”.
Meanwhile some the girls claim they were been raped by unknown person which force them to seek assistance from the home,another said she was been raped and could not tell her parent until pregnancy resulted and was been forced to marry an old man or leave the family,hence she sought assistance from the home through her relative who directed her there.
