Passenger intending to leave the country were stranded on Friday night due to the current fuel scarcity international flight were grounded at the Murtala Mohammed international airport.
Passenger had to wait for hours to be checked in but there no one to attend to them until uproar erupt before a South African Airways official told them their Flight has been cancelled due to scarcity of aviation fuel, there was no one in Arik counter or office to talk to.
But an official of Arik Air has declared on Saturday that the Airline has lost $9 million since last week when the scarcity began,he said that flights has been scale down to 20% out of 100 daily flight.
Mr Ndulue, the Managing Director disclosed that they have to fly to Ghana Cotonou and Cameroon to source for fuel at a ridiculous high rate,he add that Arik has over stretched its limits to secure the 800,000 litres needed daily to secure its daily operation since last Thursday.
He said, “If the situation does not improve in the coming days, we may not return to normal flight operations.
“We appeal to passengers for their understanding on account of the inconveniences they are going through arising from the flight disruptions.
