Court Upheld Delta State House of Assembly Speaker's Election

                             

The Court of Appeal sitting in Benin City Edo State, on Tuesday Upheld the Verdict of the Election Petition Tribunal in Asaba,which earlier declared the Speaker Delta State House of Assembly, Mr Monday Igbuya  winner of the April 11 election of the Sapele Constituency.

The APC candidate for House of Assembly Sapele Constituency Felix Anirah has approach the court to set aside the Tribunal ruling which declared Agbuya  winner for scoring the highest vote.
But On Tuesday, The appeal Court Ruled that  the petitioners failed to prove the case of substantial non-compliance to the electoral act.
According to the court, “the petitioners also failed to prove acts of irregularity and as such, the appeal must fail.”
The court awarded a cost of N100,000 against the Petitioners.
