
The members of the House of Representative has called on president Jonathan to recall Nigerian Ambassador to South Africa over the recent wave of xenophobic killings in the country saying it will no longer tolerate it.
In a motion on urgent matters of public importance moved by hon Abike Dabire-Erewa of APC stated that xenophobic attack on Africans in South Africa has been on going without control.
The House noted that recent attack that left many dead, injured, shops and business closed or vandalized was incited by a statement credited to the Zulu King Godwin Zwelithini who said Black African immigrant should return to their countries that they are no longer welcomed
“Nigeria frowns at the attacks and will no longer tolerate the killing of its nationals in South Africa. President Goodluck Jonathan must immediately convey this to President Zuma as a matter of urgency.
“Nigeria should recall its High Commissioner from South Africa pending when the attacks will stop,” the House resolved.
The lawmaker has ask the government to apply the principle of reciprocity if south Africa should continue to frustrate Nigerian businesses, Nigeria should do the same to south African Business in Nigeria.
Meanwhile the Nigerian Ambassador to South African Aminu Wali said Nigeria government will not hesitate to evacuate Nigerians living in south Africa if the violence escalates
